          • Soybean Paste Stew

            made with doenjang (Korean soybean paste) and available ingredients such as vegetables, mushrooms, seafood, or dubu (tofu). It is regarded as one of the representative dishes of food in Korea along with Kimchi jjigae

          • - 90 g beef (top round·sirloin)

          • - 15 g (3 sheets) brown oak mushrooms

          • - seasoning sauce

            • 9 g (½ tablespoons) clear soy sauce
            • 4.5 g (1 teaspoon) minced green onion
            • 2.8 g (½ teaspoons) minced garlic
            • 0.5 g (⅓ teaspoons) sesame salt
            • 0.3 g (⅛ teaspoons) ground black pepper
            • 4 g (1 teaspoon) sesame oil
          • - 700 g (3½ cup) rice water (water from washing rice)

          • - 75 g (5 tablespoons) soybean paste

          • - 250 g (½ cake) tofu

          • - 2.2 g (1 teaspoon) coarse red pepper powder

          • - 15 g (1 ea) green pepper

          • - 20 g (1 ea) red pepper

          • - 20 g (½ roots) green onion


          • 1. Pat dry beef with cotton cloths and chop into 2.5 cm-square pieces.
          • 2. Soak brown oak mushrooms in water for an hour. Remove stems, wipe water and julienne into 4 cm and 0.5 cm-wide.
          • 3. Cut the tofu (2cm by 3cm).
          • 4. Mix beef and mushrooms with seasoning sauces.
          • 5. Cut green onion and green/red pepper diagonally.


          • 1. Preheat the pot, put the beef and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 2 minutes on medium heat, before adding rice water. 【Photo 3】
          • 2. Dissolve soybean paste, and bring it to boil on high heat. Lower the heat to medium and continue to boil for 10 more minutes
          • 3. When soybean paste is dissolved evenly, add tofu and red pepper powder and boil for 2 minutes. Add green/red pepper and boil for another 1 minute before serving.【Photo 4】
          • During the summer, young pumpkin slices may be added to enhance the flavor.

            1. ① Anyone who consigns to send advertisements or any other promotional information for the gains of profit must make sure that they abide by Article 50, clause 2. 
            2. ② In accordance with clause 1, the person that consigns to send advertisements or any other promotional information for the gains of profit is responsible for any losses that might occur due to the violation of laws. [Added 2002.12.18]

            Article 74 (Punishment) 

            1. Anyone who has violated the following clauses will be sentenced a maximum of 1 year in prison or a fine under 10 million won.
